About Hunter Marine Surveying Limited

Hunter Marine Surveying Limited was established as a specialist Marine Surveying practice focused on the specific needs and requests of its clients. The Director and principal Surveyor is Glen Hunter.

Like many New Zealanders, Glen has a lifelong interest and participation in boats .  Prior to working as a Marine Surveyor he worked as a boatbuilder involved in the construction and repair of a wide range of vessels from clinker built dinghies, round the world race yachts through to motor launches and super yachts.

Glen attained qualification as a Shipwright and Boat Builder in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom and holds City and Guilds of London and New Zealand Trade Certificate qualifications.  He has worked in both New Zealand and around the south coast of Great Britain.

Moving into the Surveying industry Glen joined the Marine Division of a Corporate Loss Adjusting firm where he was exposed to a wide range of large and complex marine related property and liability losses. Continuing his professional development he has completed a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance) facilitated by the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance.

Hunter Marine Surveying Limited works to the ethics and Code of Conduct required as a member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors where he was a founding member of the New Zealand Branch.

Glens recreational interests still involve time on the water participating in sailing and recreational boating.  He has competed in a variety of sailing regattas and has completed blue water and coastal delivery passages.

Above all Glen brings an extensive marine based knowledge and skill built up over many years of practical experience and a flexibility to provide a service that can be catered to the requirements of any specific engagement.

We would welcome the opportunity to assist you with your Marine Survey requirements.
